Building a Support Ecosystem for career women

Bangalore March 4th-7th 2014, Microland, India's leading IT Infrastructure & Cloud Lifecycle Services Provider, welcomes the International Women’s Day week with a series of diverse programs amongst its global employees.

Packed with substance and fun, a week-long schedule of events has enabled Microlanders across geographies in appreciating each other’s space better and exercising diversity. Teams and individuals continue to interact, debate, give and exchange ideas, address barriers, empathize with each other and most of all come forth with well-disposed solutions for, “Building a Support Ecosystem for Career Women”. Discussions and debates span topics such as; be the Woman In Total Charge of Herself, working together and not apart, shifting of expectations, battle of the sexes, guilt free parenting, lean in or miss out, cooking is fun and several others.

At Microland, women in leadership roles constitute over 42% of the total workforce. The current women pool is at 16% as compared to the Infrastructure Management Services (IMS) industry segment pool which is estimated at around 10%.

Narasimham PNSV (Nam), Chief People Officer, asserts, “The grace, empathy, diligence, will-power, personal values and inner strength the women bring at every level, be it family, organization or society at large makes this world a better place to be in. In the corporate world, the positive correlation of gender diversity at management positions and corporate performance is testimony to the value that these unique capabilities bring to the table”.

He adds, “Focusing on workplace flexibility and creating an ecosystem to support women employees, have been among our key priorities. Encouraging mothers, who wish to serve part time or consultant roles, extended maternity benefits and several other options are in place. The availability of a variety of flexible work arrangements helps employees maximize work-family balance, which benefits both the employee and the employer”. Career, family, health, leisure, lifestyle and their balance! The pressure in today’s society put on men and women is immense and a tad more on women, as we know it. Amidst challenges, there are those women who don’t let the high demands and expectation get them down! They follow their heart, find their passion in life, stand up for what they believe in and never give up!

The 8th of March 1909, marked the historic development of officially recognizing women, to honor the garment workers' strike in New York against working conditions. Since then several events have marked women’s movement to build support for women's rights.
